I’ve just been reading a fantastic book about penguins. Smithsonian Q&A Penguins by Lloyd Spencer Davis has everything I’ve been wondering about. It’s written in accessible language. It’s also fun to read. I’ve read a lot about marine mammals, and I was wishing there was a similar volume that included penguins. The best I could find was a book from the late 80’s. I wanted something more recent. I also wanted to readily find what I needed, although I have to say, I wound up reading the entire book because it was that interesting.
So – Lloyd Spencer Davis isn’t just a writer – which would be enough. He is also an award-winning scientist. His PenguinWorld site is full of pictures and info. It even has an interactive map. All in all, it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re interested in penguins.
I’m delighted to have the info in this book as background for my chapter on bubbles and penguins! I hope you give it a read and enjoy it as well.
